Behind the Shot.
On a birthday camping trip to the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado, I was treated to an incredible sunset that set the stage for a memorable photograph. Embracing the unique landscape, I played around with incorporating desert foliage and rocks into the foreground, adding layers to the composition. Drawing on my familiarity with the dunes, I strategically positioned myself to capture the sun just before it dipped below the sandy peaks, creating a sunstar burst as it crested the dunes. This shot captures the magic of a desert sunset, with the warm hues painting the vast expanse of the dunes in a breathtaking display of natural beauty.
